Kids ARTventure Program

Looking for a fun-filled activity for your kids to boost their creativity and thinking abilities?

Here at The Noteway Art Studio, we provide great opportunities for kids to learn and enjoy the holistic experience of art creation. Through this program, we will facilitate their art journey and introduce them the basics of drawing, painting, colouring, composition and craftwork. Our curriculum is designed for your child to develop technique, cognitive thinking and creative expression.

We believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. With our carefully structured lesson modules, kids will be encouraged to explore and be creative.

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun.”

Mary Lou Cook , Hollywood Actress

Remember Ms. Frizzle from the 90’s cartoon The Magic School Bus? Her iconic phrase, ‘Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!is how we conduct our lessons here at The Noteway Art Studio. Unlike mainstream art classes who usually avoid including crafts into their curriculum (because it is too messy), we allow kids to get engaged in crafts as it is the best way to develop their fine motor skills and cognitive thinking.

Crafts

Furthermore, our traditional education system has always been about rote learning, rather than exploring or discovery. Here at The Noteway Art Studio, we let kids discover the meaning of art by themselves.

To kick-start this program, we will be offering a trial lesson for only $14.90 NETT (U.P. $50)! We encourage parents to attend this session with their kids to have a sneak peek of the what is in store for their little ones. At the end of the lesson, your kid will get to bring home a one-of-a-kind hand-painted customised kids t-shirt.

Kids ARTventure Trial Lesson (Kids aged 6 to 9)

In this session, your children will get down and dirty by replacing the paint brushes with their fingers. They will learn to mix and create new colours, and with their fingerprints, they will attempt to paint a colourful pineapple motif on a kids t-shirt.

Lesson 1 – Leaf Printing Techniques

In order to slowly ease the children into the world of art, we will be starting off with the simple, yet enjoyable craft of leaf printing.  Nature is certainly no-doubt an inspiration of creative projects, we hope that by the end of the first lesson, your children would be able to view nature and art together with beauty.

Lesson 2 – Blow-Paint Techniques

Your children will be making gorgeous drips and swirling designs by painting using straws. Unlike the traditional way of using brushes, your children will be able to learn how to make awesome yet challenging abstract art through a different medium.

Lesson 3 & 4 – Collage Art

Derived from the French verb coller, meaning “to glue,” collage is a technique of art production where artworks are produced by assembling different sources to create a new whole.

Kids will bring along some of their favourite trinkets or even magazines cut-outs and we will guide them as they mesh together a collage that is uniquely theirs. It’s a fun activity that will help them to explore their creativity and experiment with different mediums.

Lesson 5 – Finger Painting Techniques

Finger painting is an excellent tactile experience that will stimulate your child’s senses and intellectual development. Children will be learning how to mix and create colours with their fingers, as they brush and create art works from there.

Finger painting has been known to:

  • Be emotionally soothing
  • Encourage cognitive development
  • Strengthen hand and fingers, which helps with fine motor skills

Lesson 6 to 8 – Painting Project (Artist Study: Yayoi Kusama)

Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese contemporary artist. Her work is based in conceptual art and shows attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, pop art, and abstract expressionism. Considered fun, simple and interesting to emulate by the general audience, we hope that your child would be able to learn from her signature artworks through various materials and mediums.

Lesson 6 will look at Kusama’s iconic pumpkin and how to replicate it using patterns. Lessons 7 & 8 will introduce children to Kusama’s various illustration styles using mixed media.

Lesson 9 – Sand Art

Our sand art session will give kids unlimited room for creative expression! Children will get their hands dirty and learn to create their very own sand art bottle, by using simple sand art and decoration techniques. The aim of the lesson is to enhance the following:

  • Accelerate Cognitive Development
  • Enhance Visual and Spatial Intelligence (Colour senses, Proportioning skills)
  • Sharpen Sensory and Motor skills
  • Enhance Confidence and Self Expression
  • Improve Concentration: Increase attention span

Lesson 10 to 12 – Plant Sculpture Project (Artist Study: Adam Frezza and Terri Chiao)

The last few lessons will be a practical project where children will learn to design, craft, create and decorate their very own sculpture using papier-mâché. Lesson 10 will focus on children’s planning and construction of designs, followed by sculpturing and decorating of their sculpture using papier-mâché techniques.

The aim of the last lesson will be to allow your children to decorate their personal artwork, by applying and combining the various techniques that they have learnt from their previous lessons.
